2022 has been a pretty good year for music and we have been privy to some incredible releases across many genres. Regardless of what music you enjoy, you will have found something appealing.
For example, Beyoncé enjoyed amazing success with her Renaissance album that received excellent critical reviews. Similarly, Kendrick Lamar continued his success with his delightful Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers album. Other big names, including Stormzy, Drake, Sault, and Binker and Moses, also released work.
Truly, what a fantastic year for music and we are excited to see what next year has in store. We delve into this topic below and look at expected album releases coming in 2023, as this year draws to a close. There are some big names and highly anticipated works, for sure!
Sam Smith – Gloria
Sam Smith is an incredible singer and they continue to release superb music. It’s music like theirs that can sooth the soul and indeed, music is perfect for many things, including calming your pets! Perhaps that wasn’t Sam’s intent, but still! In January 2023, Sam Smith is set to release their new album, Gloria, through Capital Records.
Shania Twain – Queen of Me
Shania Twain is seemingly immortal and has been producing fantastic music for decades. She is the queen of country pop and who can forget catchy tunes like That Don’t Impress Me Much, You’re Still the One and Man! I Feel Like a Woman.
In 2023, get ready for the Shania Twain world tour and her new album entitled Queen of Me. It should be released in February and the Canadian singer has stated that it has a message of empowerment.
Paramore – This is Why
No one has heard from Paramore for ages and it’s because they haven’t released an album in over six years! This rock band is the stuff of legend and they are currently in the charts against with their single, This is Why.
Coincidentally, this will be the title of their next album, which should be released in 2023 – we can guarantee that it will feature this song too. They are also touring in 2023 across the world, including South America.
Blink-182 – untitled
Blink-182 are a legendary rock band that many people (myself included) grew up with. We can all remember epic tracks like All the Small Things and What’s My Age Again. The group were outspoken, went against trends and really stood out.
In 2023, they are going on a world tour, which should be unreal, and together with this, they are planning to release an album that is as yet untitled. This will be their first album for three years and the first with original guitarist Tom DeLonge.
Ellie Goulding – Higher Than Heaven
Ellie Goulding is a hugely successful English pop star and has a stunning voice. Some of her best works include the cover of Elton John’s Your Song, and Lights, which was second on the US Billboard Hot 100. She has released four studio albums previously, all of which have been successful.
It is now known that her next release will be titled Higher Than Heaven and will hit the stores in February. We can expect this to contain her brilliant single Let it Die.
Lewis Capaldi – Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent
Lewis Capaldi has a sublime voice and this Scottish singer continues his rise to fame through song releases and strangely enough, TikTok, with his awesome collaborations with random fans. His first (and only, to date) album was in 2019 and entitled Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent. It was a success in Europe and went to No. 1 in the UK.
We are all waiting with bated breath for his next album, which is due to hit in May 2023 and is titled Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, which plays off of the name of his first release.
These are just some of the most notable acts who are set to release work in 2023, but there are plenty more. For example, Ed Sheeran is expected to release an album and that should be momentous. Other potentials include Margo Price, The Smashing Pumpkins, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez and Avenge Sevenfold. There is, however, some doubt whether Rhianna will release a new album, despite her new single release.
