The company was launched by media personality, LaVar Ball, in 2016, and it has the headquarters at Chino Hills, California. Inception
Big Baller Brand made an announcement that it would be soft-launch by June 2016. The founder LaVar Ball is a retired footballer and a personal trainer. According to the company’s website, the company was built on “core family values.” Later on, the founder LaVar stated that he created Big Baller Brand for his three sons: LaMelo, LiAngelo, and Lonzo Ball, who were basketball players at Chino High School at the time of the company’s launch. On the company’s name, he said that each of the three Bs on the logo stood for each of the sons.
Evolution
Immediately the Big Baller Brand was launched in 2016, and it first sold T-shirts, sweatshirts, and shorts through an online store that they had. It later partnered with Garment Décor, which was a local company involved in designing, printing, and shipping of clothes. The company started working on shoes in 2017 after it started working with a sneaker company known as Brandblack.
The sneaker company Brandblack wanted to maintain independence from Big Baller Brand, and to ensure this, they created an off creative agency by the name of Santa Ana Design, and this was just for the partnership with BBB. To ensure the smooth running of the company, LaVar brought in Alan Foster, who was a family friend as the manager of the company and also to help in the design of the company’s signature shoes.
Big Baller Brand was registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on 7 March 2017. The official slogan of the company “Built for This” was trademarked in February 2018. The company started having troubles shortly after, and in March 2019, Lonzo Ball locked heads with Alan Foster over alleged misuse of $1.5 million as well as his criminal past. The company’s website was shut down in April 2019, and as of November, the site’s visitors were redirected to the official fan page of Alan Foster.
The first signature shoes of Big Baller Brand were released in November 2017, and it was called ZO2 for Lonzo Ball.
