Fatima Whitbread, born Vedad, was married to her late husband, Andrew Norman. The pair officially exchanged vows in the year 1997 when she was 36 years of age.
Norman, from Suffolk, went to the neighborhood grammar school in Ipswich, where his running career didn’t result in any notable triumphs.
But in 1962, when he was hired as a police officer in Bromley, south London, near Crystal Palace, the sport’s new epicenter, he quickly started to assist the International Athletes Club in their annual meeting at the track and established a reputation for organizing competition that helped British athletics advance.
He quickly rose to the role of director of British meetings in addition to the agent, ensuring that he was in complete charge of these events.
On the other hand, less than a year after the marriage, Whitbread was afflicted by some illnesses in the months before the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, including a shoulder injury, boils, glandular fever, and gum issues.

It was discovered that Norman had threatened and defamed Temple, who had started an investigation into the conflicts of interest in the economic affairs of Whitbread, during the probe into the suicide of athletics writer Cliff Temple.
Temple coached Shireen Bailey, and Norman propagated rumors that Temple had assaulted Bailey. In January 1994, Temple committed suicide. During the inquest into Temple’s demise, the jury found that a call from Norman “pushed [Temple] over the edge.”
In contrast, in the 1986BBC SportsPersonality of the Year Awards, Whitbread came second to Nigel Mansell and won the award the following year. Likewise, in 1887, she received the Sportswoman of the Year honor from the Sports Writers’ Association.
For her contributions to athletics, she was designated a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 1987 Birthday Honours.

But it quickly became a nightmare, and when she was 12 years old, her mother’s boyfriend assaulted her while her mother put a knife to her throat to “quieten her down.”
Her young life took a change when she met javelin coach Margaret, now 79, at her neighborhood athletics club. She then started spending a lot of time with the Whitbread family, which finally led to her adoption at the age of 14.
