Megan Wolff was a popular teacher in the Winnipeg School Div. She is the type of teacher who always invites former students to walk from Room 107 to her classroom, catch up with her, or hug her—if not all of the above.
Those closest to Wolfe said she was born a loving mother, loving to her two children and the hundreds of kindergarten students she cared for during her more than a ten-year career in the Winnipeg school district.

Every year around Christmas, Wolff was inundated with handwritten cards, chocolates, and other tokens of appreciation as a teacher.
This year, she could not say goodbye to her students at École J.B. Mitchell School before the winter break.

Wolff may have up to 40 students enrolled in morning and afternoon classes at any given time during the academic year.
Wolff believed strongly in play-based learning and used to take her children on seasonal nature walks in River Heights, where she had lived for decades.
She found solace in talking about her problems with other teachers, going to book club with her colleagues, and going for long walks with her beloved dog. Jasper is a Husky.

Wolff became ill with flu-like symptoms on December 20, forcing her to miss the final days of classes in 2021. Her symptoms worsened to the point where 911 was called the following day.
The 53-year-old tested positive for the virus on Wednesday after receiving three doses of COVID-19 vaccination. Wolff experienced a significant immunological reaction as a result of his cardiac arrest.
On Christmas morning, she died at St. Boniface Hospital. The exact cause of death and where she contracted the virus are still unknown.
Wolff was the only member of her family to stay and settle in Winnipeg, where she met the man who would become the father of her children and the husband of her 15-year marriage; Geoff Kirbyson and Wolff remained friends after their divorce.
Staff from the division’s clinical support services will visit the primary school in the new year to support the bereaved community. May her soul rest in peace.
