Christopher John Weitz, commonly known as Chris Weitz is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer best known for his work with his brother Paul on the comedy films American Pie and About a Boy.
Chris and his brother’s work on About a Boy earned them a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Chris’ other achievements include;
- Directing the film adaptation of the novel The Golden Compass,
- Directing the film adaptation of New Moon from the series of Twilight books,
- Writing the screenplay for Disney’s 2015 live-action adaptation of Cinderella, and
- Co-writing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story with Tony Gilroy.
Weitz is married to his wife Mercedes Martinez, a Cuban Mexican, and with whom he has two children: a son, Sebastian Weitz and a daughter, Athena Weitz.
