Desiderio Alberto Arnaz y de Acha III， better known as Desi Arnaz， was a Cuban-American actor， singer， bandleader， comedian， and film and television producer who was a pioneer in the development of contemporary television.
He was born on March 2， 1917， and died on December 2， 1986. He is best known for co-starring with his then-wife Lucille Ball in the American television series I Love Lucy as Ricky Ricardo.
Arnaz and Ball are often acknowledged as the creators of the syndicated rerun， which they popularized with the I Love Lucy television series.
Arnaz and Lucille Ball co-founded and headed Desilu Productions， a television production firm that was originally formed to promote I Love Lucy to television networks.
