Dorian brought his own personal and very refreshing style to the Paramount Pictures sound stage videotaping of the first four Soul Train episodes, which feature Gregory as our regular host and the entire Soul Train team, at every level, was totally thrilled by his, genuinely outgoing personality and overall, professionalism.”

Dorian Gregory Diabetes

At the age of nine Dorian Gregory was diagnosed with Type 1 or, Juvenile Diabetes, a disease that strikes children and causes the pancreas not to produce insulin and there is no cure for it, only treatments. He serves as a motivational speaker for young adults and children suffering from the disease.

He is actively involved in the Jeopardy Program, sponsored by the Los Angeles Police Department for youth at risk, as well as serving as the National Spokesman for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Dorian is working to raise funds to help find a cure for diabetes and offering information to support people living with the disease.

During an interview with ‘Health monitor’ Dorian said that diabetes has given him a better life. He uses an insulin pump and eats a diet heavy on salads and lean meats, as well as vegetables like corn, yams and sweet peas. He exercises at least four times a week.

“I wasn’t disciplined about how I was eating, and I stopped testing my blood sugar,“I’d been told all my life that I should try to avoid long-term complications. But that was too far out of reach for me to process. What I realized was that low blood sugar was going to mess up my mood and my energy at any given moment. So my goal became to have a better moment.”

“I think diabetes challenges you in cycles, the challenges don’t ever go away; they just redefine themselves. I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’m not going to always like the long list of things I have to do. But when the challenges come, I know they’re going to pass because I’ve dealt with them before.”

Over time, Dorian Gregory realized that diabetes was actually a positive force in his life. “I’ve had to become conscious of what I’m eating, how often I’m exercising and my stress level. A person without diabetes knows he or she needs to eat well and exercise, but I’m forced to. The result? I have a better body, better health and a better life.”
