Dusty Baker, whose actual name is Johnnie B. Baker, is the manager of the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball in the United States. He was born on
15th June 1949. Dusty Baker was an outfielder with the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers before becoming a manager. Baker was the oldest of seven siblings, including Robie Baker, Victor Baker, Millard Baker, Tonya Baker Orozco, Taria Baker Michalet, Ritchie Lawrence, and Shunda Baker who grew up in Riverside, California.

Dusty, on the other hand, was supposed to look after his siblings and sister as the eldest son, and any failure to do so would result in his father punishing him. Because of his proclivity for playing in a dirt patch in the backyard, he was given the nickname “Dusty” by his mother. Baker’s father was an Air Force sheet-metal technician at Norton Air Force Base until it closed when he was 14, forcing the family to relocate to the Sacramento region near McClellan Air Force Base.

Before joining the Houston Astros, Dusty Baker managed the San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, and Washington Nationals. The San Francisco Giants won the National League Pennant in 2002 under Dusty’s leadership. Later in life, Johnnie Sr. recognized that he had been harsh on his son. On November 17, 2009, he sadly died away, surrounded by his wife and children. Dusty, however, became the manager of several clubs, including the San Francisco Giants, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals, and Houston Astros, after 19 years of successful management.

Baker is currently the manager of the Houston Astros. Throughout his tenure as a player and manager, the former baseballer guided some of the most important MLB clubs to victory. As a result, Dusty Baker’s has a net worth of $20 million which is attributed to a remarkable baseball career.
