Denis Richard McDonough is an American politician who has served as the 11th Secretary of Veterans Affairs under President Joe Biden since 2021.
The Senate confirmed Denis as President Biden’s Secretary of Veterans Affairs on Monday, a non-veteran but a manager with years of government experience to lead the sprawling health and benefits agency.
McDonough served as Obama’s second-term chief of staff and previously held senior positions on the National Security Council and on Capitol Hill.
During his confirmation hearing, he told senators that, while he is not a veteran, his extensive background as a behind-the-scenes troubleshooter and policymaker would serve him well at the Department of Veterans Affairs, a massive bureaucracy beset by numerous challenges.
Did Special Forces Really Arrest US VA Secretary Denis McDonough?
No, US VA Secretary is not arrested by Special Forces. Lead Stories contacted the Pentagon, and a duty officer there responded by email on July 14, 2022, saying that this claim was completely and totally false.
A Department of Veterans Affairs spokesperson also denied the claim. If such an arrest had occurred, major news outlets would have given the story extensive coverage, but there was no such coverage because no such arrest occurred.
According to a source in General David H. Berger’s office, Denis was accused of treason, embezzlement, theft, and dereliction of duty.
Moreover, in May 2022, the Office of Military Commissions received an unverified tip that McDonough had illegally repurposed $50 billion of the VA’s $300 billion annual budget to provide medical care to Ukrainians injured in that country’s conflict with Russia.

What Are Denis McDonough’s Charges?
The US VA Secretary was not charged with anything because all of the allegations were false.
Former President Donald Trump accused VA Secretary Denis McDonough of attempting to “overturn the 2016 election” while serving as Chief of Staff to then-President Barack Obama in late 2016 and early 2017.
The twice-impeached ex-president made the bizarre allegations in a statement in which he repeated false claims that the Obama administration “spied” on his campaign, transition team, and the White House, the latter allegedly occurring after Mr. Trump was president.
