Fred Hickman, a veteran broadcaster who worked with various news outlets including CNN, TBS, and ESPN and helped launch YES Network had an estimated net worth of $15 million at time of death.
Hickman passed away on Nov. 9, 2022 following a battle with lung cancer, according to his wife Sheila.
Hickman began his broadcast career in radio, first in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, while he was in college, then at a station in his hometown of Springfield, Illinois.
He soon became an anchor, director and reporter at WICS-TV, also in Springfield. He worked there two years soon after college before moving to CNN.
Hickman was also the founder of Fred Hickman Communications, Inc., a company which provides broadcaster training for retired athletes and media training services for athletes, coaching staff and sports industry front office personnel.
Hickman also worked as a speaker, spokesperson, event host, voice over artist and narrator.
Hickman was a New York Sports Emmy Award Winner in 2004, and was added to the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
