Baker, who is in his second season as manager of the Astros, is the second-oldest manager to win a pennant, at the age of 72. Houston is making their third World Series appearance in five seasons.

Baker’s lone previous appearance in the World Series as a manager occurred in 2002. The Giants were defeated in seven games by the Anaheim Angels in the World Series. The 2002 postseason was the only time in his managerial career with the Giants that he won a postseason series.

Baker was a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers team that won the World Series in 1981.
