Dusty Baker Jr. (born June 15, 1949) is an American Major League Baseball manager who currently manages the Houston Astros. He is a former major league player for
- Atlanta Braves (1968–1975)
- Los Angeles Dodgers (1976–1983)
- San Francisco Giants (1984)
- Oakland Athletics (1985–1986)
Has Dusty Baker ever won the World Series?
The World Series is the annual championship series of Major League Baseball (MLB) in the United States and Canada, contested since 1903 between the champion teams of the American League (AL) and the National League (NL). The winner of the World Series championship is determined through a best-of-seven playoff, and the winning team is awarded the Commissioner’s Trophy.
As a player, Baker won the 1981 World Series and that season’s Gold Glove award as part of the L.A. Dodgers team that beat the New York Yankees.
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Dusty Barker as a manager. He has been criticized as a poor postseason manager. In 1998, the Giants finished the season tied for the Wild Card playoff position but unfortunately lost the National League Wild Card tiebreaker game to the Chicago Cubs. He has also been criticized for destroying the amazing careers of Robb Nen, Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, and Edinson Vólquez.
