Ross Douthat is a celebrated columnist for the New York Times. In addition, he is a blogger and author, hailing from San Franciso, California.
After taking up Bill Kristol’s position as a conservative voice on the Times editorial page in April 2009, he was appointed the paper’s youngest regular op-ed writer.

Ross Douthat battled with chronic Lyme disease for five long years. In his book The Deep Places, he shared his struggle after he found out about the illness.
In a conversation with WebMD, Ross opened up about the challenge of chronic illness. He said, “I normally described myself as 90 to 95% better; however, not symptom-free.”
He mentioned that many of his symptoms are painful, which isn’t the case for many chronically unwell individuals who experience severe tiredness.
When his illness was at its worst, he took 10 to 15 antibiotic pills daily, which was not enough to keep the infection under control, he claimed.
Douthat also remarked, “It’s still so strange to think that I would be taking antibiotics after 6 years of having an illness.”

Update On Ross Douthat Illness And Battle Against Lyme Disease
Ross Douthat contracted a mysterious and fatal illness in the summer of 2015 as he was relocating his family from Washington, D.C. to a large farmhouse in a Connecticut village.
The columnist was aware of his condition, but none of the medical professionals he saw in its early stages could identify the exact cause. He had Lyme disease treatment, but he did not recover.
In a conversation with The Gazette, Douthat discussed the lessons he had to learn about his own suffering as well as that of others, the controversies surrounding Lyme disease, and how he was finally able to take charge of his condition and heal.
