Herb Dean, a 1970-born professional mixed martial arts (MMA) referee for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, has established a solid name in the industry (UFC). Dean was an MMA fighter before beginning his career as a referee.

Dana White, the president of the UFC, Joe Rogan, and numerous media outlets, including ESPN.com, Fox Sports, Bleacher Report, SB Nation (mmamania.com), Fightland, and others, have praised him as the best MMA referee.

Few people succeed in continuing their martial arts training into their preteen and adolescent years. But referee Herb Dean from The Gold Standard did just that. He was extremely passionate and thirsty for battle after years of intense preparation.

Nevertheless, despite having years of martial arts training, he didn’t take part in any competitions until 2001. Herb Dean made the decision to start competing professionally after years of martial arts training. The martial artist faced Randy Halmot in his first-ever professional match, which he won.

The former competitor thereafter engaged in combat with other martial artists. He has a mixed record of victories and defeats in his battles.

How much does Herb Dean make per fight?

The pay range for a UFC referee is $500 to $2,500 per match. Depending on their degree of experience, an entry-level referee should be paid at least $500 every fight, while seasoned referees like Herb Dean and Marc Goddard earn a staggering $2,500 per match.

Female referees who oversee women’s fights receive roughly $1,000 per contest and up to $3,500 during pay-per-view events, despite their rarity.

Referees in the UFC receive higher standard compensation, particularly when they work pay-per-view events. A skilled and seasoned referee who is compensated with a normal Fight Night fee of $2,500 will be paid a maximum salary of $10,000, or $400,000 annually.
