David Muir is a journalist who co-anchors ABC World News Tonight and the ABC News magazine 20/20.
He previously worked as the weekend anchor on ABC’s World News Tonight till September 1, 2014. David has received numerous Emmy and Edward R. Murrow awards for his national and international reporting at ABC News.
Is David Muir Leaving World News Tonight?
David Muir joined ABC News in August 2003 as the overnight news show World News Now anchor. He also became an anchor for ABC News’ World News This Morning in the early morning.
The journalist has not announced his departure from the show, and he continues to refer to himself as the anchor of ABC World News on social media.
Muir began hosting World News Saturday in June 2007. He co-anchored the newsmagazine Primetime in 2006 and occasionally after that. Muir took over as a weekend news anchor in February 2012, and the program was renamed World News with David Muir.
He has been silently credited with an increase in weekend evening broadcast ratings. He was promoted to co-host ABC’s 20/20 with Elizabeth Vargas in March 2013.
Muir won a CINE Golden Eagle Award for his reporting on the heroin crisis in America in March 2016. The news anchor took over as ABC News’ lead anchor of breaking news and special event coverage in 2021.

ABC News Anchor David Muir Marriage Rumors With Partner Kate Dries
David Muir keeps his personal life out of the spotlight, but there was a major moment that had many convinced he was settling down with someone special.
When an editor namedKate Driespublished an article claiming he was her boyfriend, eyebrows were raised, and breaths were held.
The article,Report Indicates my Boyfriend David Muir is a Monster, was published on Jezebel in 2015.
Dries stated in the article that she visited Rome with Muir and that they had a spark from the start. Surprisingly, there were no further indications that the two were connected, and the anchor did not mention it.
But, for the time being, David appears to be single and has no plans to marry. That’s not to say he hasn’t received plenty of marriage proposals. On social media, he is constantly showered with compliments from his adoring fans.
His work appears to consume him, leaving little time for his love life.

Where Is David Muir Now?
David Muir currently resides and works in New York. He was born to a Roman Catholic family in Syracuse, New York.
He grew up watching ABC News’ flagship program with his family every night, and he credits longtime anchor Peter Jennings as his biggest journalistic influence.
David graduated in May 1991 from Onondaga Central Junior-Senior High School. He then transferred to Ithaca College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism in May 1995.
He interned at WTVH-TV in Syracuse during high school. He spent a semester at the Fund for American Studies Institute on Political Journalism at Georgetown University and another semester abroad with the Institute for International Education of Students at the University of Salamanca in Spain.
