Jessica Andrade Headdress- Is She Native American?

Jéssica Andrade headdresses are worn by many Native groups in North and South America, but only a few fighters have worn them before entering the ring.

Jéssica wears it not just as a symbol but also as a source of inspiration and strength, as it has origins in Brazil’s indigenous people.

According to Lcia Gaspar of the Joaquim Nabuco Foundation in Brazil, the headgear was often used in rites and festivals, and Andrade is just a few generations distant from people who wore it in its original condition.

Andrade said that her great-grandma was a pure native Brazilian who was captured in the bush.

Andrade senses the power and spirit of not just Brazilians but also her forefathers and faith. When Andrade enters, she is as tough as a rock, and nothing can injure her.
