To begin with tragic news straight from 3News, sports director and successor Jim Donovan confirmed the demise of former Cleveland Browns radio analyst Jim Mueller.
Mueller, a treasured member of the Cleveland sports media who worked both at WKYC and on the Browns Radio Network, passed away on August 21, 2022. Donovan confirmed the news by saying, “My condolences, and all of our condolences, go out to Jim’s family — his son Kyle, his daughter Paige,”

Donovan is Mueller’s successor as the sportscaster of 3News, who joined after his retirement. In collaboration with veterans like Doug Dieken, Nev Chandler, and Gib Shanley, Mueller had served as the team’s sports announcer for about 20 years.
Mueller cemented himself as one of the most recognizable voices in the area’s media environment while working as the main sports anchor for WKYC from 1983 to 1987. He even commented on a possible purchase of the Tribe to the former president of the United States, Donald Trump, while calling a few Indians and Cavaliers games. However, the deal never happened.
Besides, two other people with the same name Jim Mueller lost their life this August. The one being struck by lightning near the White House.
Police reported that an old couple from Janesville who were seriously hurt by lightning near the White House has passed away. Two more people were hospitalized with grave injuries.
The Metropolitan Police Department reported that James (Jim) Mueller, 76, and Donna Mueller, 75, both of Janesville, Wisconsin, both away due to their wounds sustained at Lafayette Park, which is situated directly outside the White House complex. Meanwhile, an 80-year-old former air force army Jim Mueller also perished in August this year.

Based on his look, he must be in his late fifties or early sixties. From 1975 until 1995, Jim Mueller worked as a radio announcer under the moniker “Voice of the Cleveland Browns.” When the Browns made a comeback as an expansion franchise in 1999, the seasoned analyst served as the public address announcer.
In addition to his job in Cleveland, the anchor also gained notoriety in NASCAR as the Michigan International Speedway’s public address announcer for 33 years until retiring in 2017.
