An acclaimed award-winning American writer, Joan Didion passed away at the age of 87. The cause of her death is revealed to be Parkinson’s disease. 

The news about Joan Didion’s demise was confirmed after a statement was radiated on social media. She was an American writer who rose to fame in the 1960s after winning an essay competition. 

In her groundbreaking essay, Slouching Towards Bethlehem, she was well known for the counterculture. She became a home name with her essay on US society. She started her career after graduation from the University of California in 1956 and led to New York and began her first job at Vogue, where she worked as a features editor. 

But, sadly, she passed away at the age of 87.

Born in 1934 in Sacramento, she spent her entire childhood free from school restrictions. She began her first notebook when she was 5. Her first book was published in 1963, and the name of her book is The novel Run, River.

Joan Didion’s daughter, Quintana Roo Dunne, was born in 1966 in New York City. She was an adopted daughter of Joan Didion. 

On August 26, 2005, Quintana died because of acute pancreatitis during her mother’s New York promotion for “The Year of Magical Thinking.”

She passed away at just the age of 39. Later, Didion wrote about her death in the 2011 book named Blue Nights.
