Julian Teekaram Biography
Julian Teekaram is an American journalist who won an award from the Society of Professional Journalists for her story about students misusing the drug Adderall to help them study. During her time there, she was a reporter and anchor for Newslink Indiana, Ball State’s Emmy award-winning nightly newscast.
Before graduating in 2012, Julian secured her first job at WLIO-TV in Lima, Ohio. She started out as a reporter and was eventually promoted to the weekend anchor position. She finished her career there as the station’s morning anchor.

WPTA Names Julian Teekaram Morning News Anchor
WPTA/Fort Wayne announced Teekaram as the morning co-anchor for ‘Fort Wayne’s NBC News Today’ effective immediately. She will work alongside Pauleen Le, Yasser Kishk and Kent Horman. Julian was previously at ABC21 since October 2016.
“Julian’s enthusiasm for broadcasting is exceeded, perhaps, only by her enthusiasm for her hometown,” said WPTA News Director Jonathan Shelley. “We’re thrilled to have her take on this new role and join our outstanding morning team.”
She is also a former anchor at WLIO-TV in Lima, Ohio but is originally from northeastern Indiana.
Julian Teekaram Dancing with Lima
Local celebrities are kicking up their heels to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy. Professional dancers from around West Central Ohio teamed up with LCC coach Frank Kill, Tom Ahl, Father David Ross, our own Julian Teekaram among others to dance their hearts out for the first-ever Dancing with Lima competition.
While these dance teams tried to get the most votes to win, the true winner is the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy, because that is where all the money goes when it is all said and done, thanks to organizer Marie Niese. Congratulations to Frank Kill who won the judges award and Julian Teekeram won the people’s choice award. The goal for the first-ever dancing with Lima was ten thousand dollars.

Tornadoes leave damage in Indiana, Ohio
Unseasonably warm and humid conditions ahead of a press of much cooler, drier air helped to fuel severe storms from Ohio to southeastern Missouri. Strong thunderstorm winds have downed trees and triggered flooding across Indiana and Ohio.
“Despite it being early November, the second season of severe weather is typical in the fall months as progressively colder air battles with lingering warmth. That is exactly what we are seeing in the Ohio Valley to end this weekend,” AccuWeather Meteorologist Kristina Pydynowski said.
The threat of severe weather has diminished considerably since Sunday afternoon. As a line of rain and storms presses southeastward into the central Appalachians and Ohio Valley, local flash flooding and gusty winds will become the primary risks. “This front will move through the Northeast on Monday, but severe weather is not expected,” Pydynowski said.
11:00 p.m. EST Sunday: Soaking rain and thunderstorms continue to progress to the south and east into the central Appalachians and Ohio Valley. Localized flash flooding will be the main concern through the overnight hours, but a few more tornado spin-ups are also possible.
9:12 p.m. EST Sunday: Police in Jay County, Indiana are willing to go as far as ticketing residents if they do not stay off of the streets during the severe weather.
7:15 p.m. EST Sunday: Tornado Warning and Flash Flood Warning are in effect in Erie, Pennsylvania.
5:20 p.m. EST Sunday: The severe storm is racing across Ohio now. There is a Tornado Warning in effect for Wakeman, Ohio, with a strong rotation.
Tornado Warning continues for just west of Cleveland, Ohio, including Berlin Heights, Vermilion, Amherst, Lorain. There is another rotation skirting the Lake Erie shore.
