A fly-half for the Premiership Rugby team Harlequins, Marcus Sebastian Smith (born 14 February 1999) is an English rugby union professional player. He began playing for England in 2021 and was chosen as a stand-in for the South Africa Lions trip in 2021.
In the Premiership Rugby London Double Header match against London Irish at Twickenham Stadium on September 2, 2017, Smith made his professional debut donning the number 10 jersey for the senior Harlequins team. Two weeks later, Smith helped the visitors at Ricoh Arena snap a 20-match winning streak with a Man-of-the-Match effort against Wasps.
On June 26, 2021, he started the Premiership final against Harlequins and Exeter Chiefs, which resulted in the highest-scoring Premiership final ever (40-38), thanks to four conversions from Smith’s boot.
Smith made his non-capped England debut against the Barbarians on June 2, 2019, after declining to play for the 2019 U-20 team. During the game, Smith scored 26 points, including a try, to lead England to a 51-43 victory and was named Man-of-the-Match.
Smith made his full England test debut against the United States on July 4, 2021, scoring 13 points, including a try, in a 43-29 victory. Six days later, he earned his second start against Canada, kicking flawlessly in England’s 70-14 victory.
