A dedicated Minecraft fan has celebrated the start of 2022 with a digital New Year”s firework display. Mojang Studios’ survival sandbox title gives players plenty of different tools and resources to experiment with, allowing endless creativity for those interested in learning the game’s mechanics. Minecraft’s functional fireworks were added to the title way back in December 2012, arriving just ahead of the new year and creating a new way to celebrate in-game.
Adding to Minecraft’s massive selection of different objects, fireworks allow gamers to set up their own digital displays of aerial art. To create a firework, players must first craft a Firework Star out of gunpowder, colored dye and some optional ingredients which give the explosion special properties. Combining the Firework Star with paper and more gunpowder yields a Firework Rocket, which can either be launched by hand or fired from a dispenser or crossbow. The delay of the firework’s explosion can also be customized, allowing players to dramatically change the appearance and behavior of their rocket. Fireworks can also allow players to fly when paired with Elytra wings, allowing one fan to become a Star Wars TIE Fighter in Minecraft without the use of a single mod.
To celebrate New Year’s Eve 2022, Reddit user and Minecraft fan RUOK0214 prepared a dazzling digital fireworks display. The massive project connects a simple button to an enormous number of dispensers using Redstone, allowing for the coordinated launch of a whole slew of colorful rockets. Set in front of Minecraft’s square moon, the firework show presents players with colorful mid-air arrangements and the distant boom of explosions. RUOK0214’s show ends by spelling out “2022” in fireworks, demonstrating expert planning and keen knowledge of Redstone.
Outside of Minecraft, many other notable games allow players to design and enjoy digital fireworks displays for special events. While RUOK0214 created their explosive aerial show for New Year’s Eve 2022, Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ seasonal fireworks event returned this year to commemorate the summer season. Back in 2020, fans of Nintendo’s social simulation title could enjoy in-game fireworks displays every Sunday in August. The event was brought back in July 2021, with weekly firework shows accompanied by brand-new items for players to acquire.
Utilizing a complex combination of different items and systems, RUOK0214 has assembled a beautiful Minecraft fireworks display to celebrate the end of 2021. Many different firework types and effects are utilized, and the entire show goes off at the press of a button thanks to a mastery of Redstone technology. As the world counts down to a brand-new year, Minecraft fans can construct their own firework displays similar to RUOK0214.
