Naziha Salim Biography Explored
Naziha Salim was born in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1927 to Iraqi parents from Mosul.
Naziha studied at the Baghdad Fine Arts Institute and gained a diploma with excellence. She also received funding to study artwork in École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

Salim specialized in mural and fresco drawing while in Paris. She decided to live abroad for several years in college, indulging in heritage and literature.
Salim returned to Baghdad and worked at the Fine Arts Institute. She authored Iraq: Contemporary Art, an asset for the growth stages of Iraq’s modern art movement.

Naziha Salim: Family Of Iraq’s Artist
Naziha Salim was born to the parent Hajji Mohammed Salim, and her mother’s name is unknown. Her father worked as a commander in the Ottoman Turks during her birth.
Her mother was a skillful embroiderer, while her father was a talented painter. She has three brothers named Rashid, Su’ad Salim, and Jawad, all talented artists.
Her family decided to return to Baghdad in the 1920s, when she was just born. She was the first female in her country to earn a scholarship for artwork in another country.
