The ex-boyfriend of a Harvard woman discovered dead in Vermont was shot and murdered by police on Tuesday night, according to officials.
Fitchburg native Matthew Davis, a person of interest in the killing of 23-year-old Mary Anderson, was shot after a confrontation with police, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Police had sought Davis for questioning in connection with the death inquiry. According to CBS News, Mary’s mother characterized Davis as “having rage issues.”

Davis and her daughter, she claims, just ended their years-long relationship. Her mother even stated that they had only broken up in November.
Furthermore, they had been together for three years when something happened in their relationship.
According to Mary’s mother, the most heartbreaking element of the horrible situation is that she could have spent her dying days alone.

Fitchburg Massachusetts Man Shot Dead By The Police
Police shot and killed Matthew Davis, Mary Anderson’s ex-boyfriend who was wanted for questioning in her abduction and killing, on Tuesday night in Vermont.
After Vermont State Police discovered Anderson’s death inside her navy blue Toyota Tacoma on Elliot Street in Brattleboro just before 1 a.m. Tuesday, authorities indicated they wanted to speak with Davis.
The 34-year-old Fitchburg, Massachusetts, resident was deemed armed and dangerous and a person of interest.
Davis was discovered strolling in West Brattleboro, Vermont, shortly before 8 p.m., according to police.

Davis was armed with a knife, according to police, when he was shot during a confrontation with Vermont State Police and the Brattleboro Police Department.
There were also two Massachusetts State Police detectives in the neighborhood.
Following the shooting, police conducted life-saving procedures on Davis, but he died from his injuries on the site. An autopsy is scheduled for early Wednesday morning.

Matthew Davis, Mary Anderson’s ex-boyfriend, was convicted of viciously stabbing a man in Pittsfield in 2009. The victim was the mother of his two children’s lover.
Davis spent several years in prison for that crime, she said to WCVB. Davis, who was hiding in the woman’s bedroom closet.
They later rushed out and attacked her new boyfriend, who was in the room with her, as per a police report obtained by 5 Investigates.
A few hours later, police discovered Davis hiding close to a snow bank and detained him.
