Naima Sanders and Tomoki Sanders are the children of Pharoah Sanders, a revered spiritual jazz saxophonist who was best known for his unique playing style and collaborations with John Coltrane.
Their father died on Sept. 24, 2022 at age 81.

Tomoki, on the other hand, has followed his late dad’s footsteps and is also a saxophonist.
Accoding to his LinkedIn profile, Tomoki grew up in New York, and was given his first pair of drumsticks at the age of four. A pair of cymbals followed shortly thereafter.
He had his first saxophone when he was 10 years old, after which his instrumental repertoire expanded to many more instruments.
Having grown up in a musical household, Tomoki had the good fortune of being exposed to jazz and many other black music from Ralph Peterson Jr., Billy Kilson, George Garzone, among many others.
