Who is Rebecca McBrain?

Rebecca Soteros was born in 1974, in the United States of America, and is a former school teacher, but best known for her relationship with the late actor Paul Walker, who rose to fame as a part of “The Fast and the Furious” franchise. The two had a daughter together, but separated shortly after their child’s birth.

The Net Worth of Rebecca McBrain

As of early-2020, Rebecca McBrain’s net worth is estimated to be over $500,000, earned through success in her various endeavors.

She received a lot of support as she was raising her child with Walker, and probably benefitted from his net worth estimated to be around $25 million at the time of his death.

Life and Career

Very few details have been shared about Rebecca’s life before she met Walker. She completed her college education and then started a career as a school teacher. Both of them were young adults when they became friends. The two met while on the streets, and she became close to him, even knowing about the many women he’d dated. Eventually, the two fell in love and she became pregnant.

After her pregnancy, she asked his hand for marriage but he declined, as he felt that he was still too young to make that sort of commitment.

Their relationship slowly declined as a result, and after the birth of their daughter she moved to Hawaii with their child to work there as a school teacher. She received a lot of support from Walker for the child, but developed an addiction to alcohol. Eventually, things went too far, and her alcoholism led to Paul gaining full custody of the child. She didn’t communicate often in the years before his death, after which she moved to California to try and reconnect with her daughter.

She also tried to claim a part of her former lover’s wealth, which ended in vain as most of his wealth was passed on to Paul’s father and daughter. It is not known if she remains close to their daughter after all the issues they went through.

Ex-Boyfriend – Paul Walker

Paul was the son of a boxer and a fashion model, and was of Irish, Swiss, German, and English descent. He grew up the oldest of five siblings in Southern California. During his youth, he developed a strong interest in marine biology, one that he would pursue later on, even as his acting career flourished.

Being close to the center of the entertainment industry in the US, there were a lot of opportunities going for him, and his first job was as a commercial model for Pampers, while still a toddler. As he grew up, he gained more acting roles, appearing in shows such as “The Young and the Restless”, “Touched by an Angel”, and “Highway to Heaven”. In 1986, he made his film debut in “Monster in the Closet”. Throughout the 1990s, he had roles in films, mainly as a supporting character, in projects such as “She’s All That” and “Varsity Blues”.

The Fast and the Furious and Other Projects – Paul Walker

In 2001, Paul got his breakthrough in the action film “The Fast and the Furious”, which starred him alongside Vin Diesel.

This would mark the start of a friendship between the two, which would eventually lead to an entire franchise set in the world of the first film. He appeared in seven films in the franchise with the last being “Furious 7” which he was filming before his death.

He also had other projects, which included leading roles in films, appearing in “Flags of Our Fathers”, “Joy Ride”, and “Eighth Below” which gained a lot of positive reviews. He also starred in “The Lazarus Project” which was an independent film, and “Takers” which was released in 2010. Apart from “Furious 7”, he was in a few posthumous releases including “Brick Mansions” and “Hours”.

He was also set to star in a film adaptation of “Hitman: Agent 47”, but passed away before production started.

The Death of Paul Walker

Walker was working on a charity event for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan or Yolanda in the Philippines as a part of his work with his organization, Reach Out Worldwide. After the event, he tested a Porsche Carrera GT with his friend and financial advisor Roger Rodas. The test went awry, as the two crashed into a concrete lamp post and two trees. The car ignited and both were killed from trauma and burns – by the time they were recovered, both were burned beyond recognition.

Investigation of their death concluded that the reason for their crash was due to speed and the age of the tires which likely gave out as they were making a turn on what is a popular spot for drifting. Numerous lawsuits followed, against both Porsche and Rodas, done so that Walker’s family could claim the portion of his car collection that Rodas had.

Due to “Furious 7” being in production at the time, all work from it was halted. After obtaining the permission of Walker’s loved ones, they continued filming with CGI and Paul’s brother filling in for some of the parts that he wasn’t able to film.

His life was later showcased through the documentary “I Am Paul Walker”, which was released in 2018.

Personal Life

Following her relationship with Walker, Rebecca slowly moved away from the spotlight. She goes by the surname McBrain now which indicates that she has remarried. There are rumors that she shared the same interest in marine biology as her late-lover, which is one of the reasons why they connected early on. Apparently she still struggles with alcoholism, and so has shied away from any media attention.
