Tim Feerick, bassist of the rock band Dance Gavin Dance, has died. He is 34 years old.
The “Synergy” rock group announced his death in a statement shared on Instagram on Thursday, just over a week before their planned Swanfest in their hometown of Sacramento.
“We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of our friend and bassist Tim Ferick on [Wednesday] night,” the group wrote on Instagram. “We ask that you respect our and Tim’s family’s privacy as you deal with this heartbreaking and untimely loss.”
The cause of his death was not disclosed.
Feerick’s bandmates said they will share further updates on Swanfest, scheduled for April 23, as well as other tour dates “as soon as we have them.”
Dance Gavin Dance was due to start a series of major tours later this month, with a performance at the When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas in October.
Ferick began touring with the band in 2009 and became a full member in 2013, according to the Sacramento Bee.
“You were my friend, brother, and the best bass player I’ve dreamed of sharing the stage with over the years,” drummer Matthew Mingus wrote on Instagram. “You’ll be missed, but never forgotten.”
Dance Gavin Dance released his debut studio album Downtown Battle Mountain in 2007 and has released eight more over the years, the most recent being 2020’s The Afterburner.
