Opera Square Accra Fire Updates
According to the sources, a fire broke out in a home appliance shop located in the Opera Square building in Accra. The store had numerous items including shoes, bags, and other home appliances that have been burnt to ashes. The server of the GT Bank has also been affected by the fire. The incident took place on Monday at around 4 pm. Alex King, a member of the Ghana National Fire Service Communication team, told JoyNews that the reason behind the fire is yet to be known.

He reported that his team has successfully managed to stop the fire from spreading to the two banks. He also revealed the difficulty in dousing the fire. He stated, “The unfortunate incident is that people have built on the hydrants, and also the hydrants have not been flowing. Ghana Water has not been giving us water and this is something that whenever we raise, it becomes an issue, but there is no water flowing through the hydrants.”
He added that our officers had to go as far as to circle, as far as Osu and all, just to go and replenish and went back there. It was confirmed by JoyNews that currently, the Ghana National Fire Service is yet to put the fire under control as it continues to rekindle.
