Most people were familiar with Mark Fleischman as the previous operator of the Studio 54 nightclub.

After businessmen Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager were charged with conspiracy, tax evasion, and obstruction of justice, he took over running the club in 1978.

In 1984, Mark purchased the studio for $4.75 million and sold it to new owners. In his subsequent book, Inside Studio 54, he went into great detail about the club.

However, the erstwhile nightlife magnate died with an assisted suicide in Switzerland. Mark’s death sparked a rush of tributes on the internet.

Mark Fleischman, who owned the famed New York nightclub Studio 54 in the 1980s, died by assisted suicide in Switzerland, according to a former business colleague.

He initially became ill in 2016 and was unable to walk or do many activities for himself, but physicians were unable to pinpoint his ailment. Thus he decided to leave the world behind and move on to the heavens on Wednesday at the Dignitas clinic outside Zurich.

“I guess he was in more pain than we thought,” said Daniel Fitzgerald, who co-owned Los Angeles’ Century Club with Mr. Fleischman in the 1990s and 2000s.

Last week, Mr. Fitzgerald organized a “living wake” for Mr. Fleischman in the hopes that he would postpone his trip to Switzerland.

In Switzerland, assisted self death is allowed, and the Dignitas clinic has been operating since 2002.

Furthermore, Fleischman stated that they were looking for a location where they could lawfully find someone to do it.

Additionally, Mark’s spouse noted that dealing with his problem has been challenging because he is unable to walk and lacks balance.

Mimi reported that Mark drops objects and has no idea where his body is in space, claiming that physicians misdiagnosed him with Parkinson’s illness.
