On Tuesday, Brookfield zoo was put under lockdown for a short amount of time and all of the visitors were requested to shelter in place after the zoo facility received a threat from an unknown woman.
Brooklyn Zoo is one of the most active zoos in the United States. Recently, the zoo has been searched by thousands of people after it received a major threat.
Visitors and workers were safely evacuated after being advised to shelter in place at Brookfield Zoo on Tuesday afternoon as officials examined a potential danger.
The Brookfield Police Department is aggressively investigating the issue throughout the park and surrounding region in collaboration with Brookfield Zoo Police. Authorities were “sweeping the grounds” and releasing zoogoers building by building.
What Happened At Brookfield Zoo Today?
Brookfield zoo was closed for a short period of time on Tuesday because it received threats from an unknown caller.
After receiving a threat, Brookfield Zoo was temporarily placed on lockdown, and guests were advised to stay in place Tuesday evening.
At approximately 5:15 p.m., police got a phone call from a crisis intervention line informing them that a lady had called and threatened to hurt both zoo visitors and herself.
The zoo’s police department contacted the Brookfield and Riverside police departments, which responded by dispatching officers.

Brookfield Zoo Was Put Into Lockdown Because Of Potential Threat
Despite the ambiguity of the threat, authorities chose to issue a lockdown and shelter-in-place order out of prudence. They then began to remove every public and private space to make way for personnel, caretakers, and animal housing.
The zoo reported that all guests and personnel had safely evacuated the site just after 8 p.m. Zoo authorities expressed gratitude to everyone for their patience and cooperation.
The zoo was not very packed at the time of the report because it was already scheduled to close at 6 p.m., according to police. The person that made the threat was not at the park, according to police, and there is no active threat to the zoo or the neighboring towns.

Who Was The Woman That Made The Threat?
It is clear that it was a woman who made the call and declared the threat to the zoo.
She threatened to harm herself and the people at the zoo. However, the police authorities are investigating the name of the woman.

If the threat is sent by interstate commerce, such as phone calls, email, mail, texts, or online messaging, this federal felony carries a maximum sentence of 5 years in federal prison.
