Many celebrities we know today have had their experiences in the past. Some bad and others good. In all these, the way they behave today and hold themselves up is mostly a reflection of lessons learnt from those experiences.
So, what happened to Mandy on JTV?
On the 13th of August, 1999, Mandy had her life interrupted in a terrible way. When this happened, she was only 20 years old. She was with a friend heading to church when she was involved in an accident. A driver hit the Nissan Sentra Mandy was driving head on. The driver hit her car due to a seizure suffered. So, it was never intentional. However, the outcome wasn’t something that was exciting at all for Mandy, her family, church, and loved ones.
When the accident happened, she was sitting close to the steering wheel. But the crash was very strong so, it snapped her head back and forward. Due to this, her brain bounced against her cranium. This accident was described by doctors as the elderly form of shaken-baby syndrome.
Love from loved ones
Mandy had to spend the very first five months after the accident occurred in a coma. This was in the hospital. The touching part of this was that, over a 100 of her family and friends, came together in the hospital. They rushed there and were in the waiting room immediately the news spread out. It was an emotional sight. The very next night, a candlelight wake or vigil was held.
Doctors had no hope
The irony of all that happened was, the doctors advised Mandy’s family not to be hopeful. However, this was not something they held on to. This is because they felt hopeful whenever they looked at her on the hospital bed.
Her smile of hope
After two months in the hospital, the first smile of Mandy came. This smile shook the hospital and all her loved ones present with joy. However, the next smile came after another month.
Many went through so much during those times. However, her miracle, life, and transformation is what has kept many around her hopeful. Even through her experiences, Mandy is still someone who is always hopeful and keeps her faith strong.
