The death news of Mike Brito, a legendary international scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers for nearly 45 years at the age of 87, has saddened internet users.

Brito, born in Cuba, started working for the Dodgers in 1978. More than 30 of his signees went on to play in the major league, including current Dodgers Julio Uras and Victor González, Yasiel Puig, and Joakim Soria.

For many years, Brito was easily recognized behind home plate wearing a dapper suit and Panama hat with a cigar clenched in his teeth and holding a radar gun. He got the Tony Gwynn Award from Baseball America last year for his lifetime accomplishments.
