The Scottish hard rock band Nazareth was founded by Manuel “Manny” Charlton, who served as their main guitarist from 1968 to 1990. Charlton was born on July 25, 1941.

He was born in Spain, but when he was a young child, his family moved to Scotland.

Charlton played a few solo gigs in Scottish clubs after leaving Nazareth in 1990. His debut solo album, Drool, was released in 1997 on the Red Steel record label and included Neil Miller on vocals.

He moved to Texas the next year and started the Manny Charlton Band there (MCB). Before disbanding in 2003, the new band issued two albums, Stonkin and Klone This.
