Kirk Herbstreit is an American analyst for the college football television program College GameDay on ESPN. He provides color commentary on college football games on ESPN and ABC and Thursday Night NFL games on Prime Video.

Herbstreit is a five-time Sports Emmy Award winner and American analyst for ESPN’s College GameDay. He received three Excellent Studio Analysts in 2010, 2011, and 2019 and two Excellent Occasion Analysts in 2018 and 2020.

He began his broadcasting career in 1996 with ESPN, now the primary commentator on College GameDay. Similarly, he also works as a college soccer analyst for ABC’s Saturday evening games.

Moreover, the journalist was on a panel with Keyshawn Johson and Michael Wilbon for the collection Who’s Now in July 2007. He works for ESPN.com and ESPN The Journal as a color commentator for ESPN’s Thursday Night Faculty Soccer games.

Kirk landed an exciting new role this year, joining Amazon’s Thursday Night Football team for the 2022 season. As a result, there has been some speculation about his future as an ESPN college football analyst.

One of Herbstreit’s followers tweeted his worry over his work covering ESPN college football, to which he replies with a positive response, Since, his fans praise his commentary as enjoyable, he cannot part with the role that has people’s affection.

The journalist also signed a multi-year contract with ESPN. According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Herbstreit’s agreement allows him to call games on both the World Wide Leader and somewhere other than ESPN.

As a result, Amazon jumped at the chance to hire him as a lead analyst. Herbstreit called his first NFL game alongside Fowler in 2020 before joining Amazon.

Herbstreit was sick for a few days and could not accept the 2022 Soccer Spring Recreation times. He was supposed to be on ESPN’s broadcast team for the Spring soccer game.

Many people believed he missed it because of illness, while others thought it was because of a communication error on the part of ESPN. Meanwhile, Kirk shared the video on social media, informing fans that he has a blood clot and may not be able to attend the NFL Draft in 2022.

Moreover, many followers speculated that it was the unintended consequences of the COVID-19 vaccine, but the Kirk team has not yet released an official statement on the matter.

What Happened To Kirk Herbstreit?

The football broadcaster will not be selected in the 2022 NFL Draft. In a recent Los Angeles Times feature, ESPN college football analyst Herbstreit revealed that he had a health scare this offseason.

The College GameDay analyst said it started with what he thought was a calf pull and progressed to chest pain and shortness of breath. That’s when he realized he needed to see someone:

Hey guys-wanted to update you on my situation this week. Unfortunately I won’t be part of our ESPN/ABC NFL Draft coverage. Our team in Vegas will have it covered, and I will be watching.

Congrats to all the players! I love this event and look forward to returning next year. https://t.co/UvBsI3TaUV

He posted a video to his officialTwitter account with the caption: “Hey guys, I just wanted to give you an update on my situation this week. Unfortunately, I will not be covering the NFL Draft for ESPN/ABC.”

Kirk concluded: “Our team in Vegas will handle it, and I will be watching. Congratulations to everyone who participated! I enjoy this event and hope to return next year.”

Furthermore, he stated in the video, “Doctors recently discovered a blood clot in my system. So I consider myself extremely fortunate to have excellent doctors in whom I have complete faith. I’m in a good mood. But, in an abundance of caution, I’m going to step back from this year’s draft coverage.”
