Brady Robertson was sentenced to 17 years for killing a mother along with her three daughters.
Caledon driver Brady Robertson 21 was sentenced to 17 years for “gambling with other people’s lives”, which caused the death of 37 years old Karolina Ciasullo, a school teacher and her three daughters in 2020.
The Ontario court Judge Sandra Caponecchia criticised Robertson’s action. He took four innocent lives.
“The results of Mr. Robertson’s actions were catastrophic. The impact of the victims’ deaths will last a lifetime,” Caponecchia stated that a car crash not just killed four people but ruined a family. A devasted father and a husband who is “physically and emotionally unwell” have a massive effect on their extended family. His “cavalier attitude” against road rules demanded a considerable punishment, Ontario Court Justice Sandra Caponecchia admitted to the police.
Robertson seemed to have 15 traffic violations in the two and a half years leading up to the June 18, 2020, collision in Brampton, which brutally murdered Karolina Ciasullo and her three daughters, Klara, Lilianna, and Mila.
“I have avoided calling both crashes an accident. That is because both were anything but an accident; both crashes were crimes, not accidents,”
“Both crimes were 100 per cent avoidable, had Mr. Robertson had any regard for the lives and safety of others.”
Robertson will be officially given a total sentence of 14 years and two months. His conviction is linked to road accidents and includes a conditional discharge that will last for 20 years after he is released.
As Caponecchia delivered her sentence, the packed court hearing erupted in gasps and sobs.
“As much as Canada is a great country, I am beyond disgusted with the justice system that someone who takes away four lives gets so little time,” Anna Martin, Ciasullo’s sister. Stated.
“Our whole family is devastated … No one is the same anymore.”
“It happened to be our family that suffered, but it could have been any other family,” she concluded.
Investigators sought a 23-year jail term for Robertson as well as a life-span license suspension. The prosecution argued that Robertson must receive a seven-year sentence and a ten-year license suspension.
Concerning the deadly collision, Robertson pled to four counts of careless driving and involuntary manslaughter.
