Pam Duncan-Glancy is a 40-year-old Scottish Labour Spokesperson for Social Security. Since May 2021, she has served as the Glasgow region’s MSP in the Scottish Parliament.

She also worked in the NHS before being elected an MSP for the Glasgow Region and is a human rights activist.

Duncan-Glancy, the first person in a wheelchair to be elected to the Scottish Parliament, has a graduate degree in citizenship and human rights from Glasgow Caledonian University.

Who Is Pam Duncan-Glancy Husband Hugh John Glancy?

Pam Duncan-Glancy is happily married to her husband, Hugh John Glancy. The pair recently celebrated their eighth marriage anniversary in April 2022.

Glancy posted a picture of herself and her husband with the caption, “Eight years, three jobs, two referenda, far too many elections, and one rocket dug, and here we are,” on Instagram to mark the occasion.

Though not much is known about Pam’s marriage, we discovered that her husband is also a member of the disabled community through her social media handle.

As of now, John Glancy’s profession hasn’t been uncovered. Nevertheless, he is a loving and supportive life partner to Pam.

Pam Duncan-Glancy Condition & Disability

At 18 months, Pam Duncan-Glancy received a diagnosis of juvenile idiopathic arthritis. The condition severely impacted her joints; several are now fused and deformed.

Around one in 1,000 Scottish children and teenagers under 16 suffer from this kind of juvenile arthritis. It is auto-immune, which means that the body’s immune system inappropriately attacks healthy joint tissue.

Duncan-Glancy stated to STV News that the disease caused “a lot of damage” in the early years of her existence.

She claims that things have advanced “a long, long way” since then, with various medications readily available to treat the disease.

Why Is Pam Duncan-Glancy In A Wheelchair?

Pam Duncan-Glancy is in a wheelchair as a result of an arthritis diagnosis. However, her impairment is also her greatest strength.

Duncan-Glancy told STV News, “Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis is exactly the same illness, just known by a new name. I was diagnosed with Juvenile Chronic Arthritis, as it was called at the time.

She further addressed, “I was 18 months old when I received a diagnosis of juvenile chronic arthritis; I am now 40. That was a very long time ago.

According to her, the illness can be “stark” in how its effects can change daily.

The condition makes it extremely difficult to get out of bed, and getting one’s body and joints moving in the mornings can take up to an hour or longer.
