Former NBC4 Washington News anchor Wendy Rigg is currently in hospice care, the network said on April 15, 2022.
“Wendy Rieger Update: I regret to report that our dear colleagues and friends are now in hospice,” NBC4 host Pat Lawson Muse wrote on Facebook. “The good news is she is well cared for, she is comfortable and pain free. Please join me and our NBC4 family in praying for courage and peace for Wendy, her husband Dan and their family. 🙏🙏🙏 NBC Washington .”
Rigg is retiring in December 2021 after 33 years at the Washington, D.C. station. retire. The last time she posted on her Facebook page about completing cardiac rehabilitation was in February 2021.
NBC4 urged people to “show some love and kindness to our beloved Wendy Rigg.”
The story explains on April 15, 2022, “As you know, Wendy was diagnosed with glioblastoma last summer. She went back to work after surgery and her first treatment. For her cancer The trip, she was honest with all of us.”
The broadcaster revealed: “Wendy’s situation has gotten even more difficult this week. She is now well cared for in hospice. She is relaxed, comfortable and with those closest to her. We know you will be with us on NBC4. Sending love, courage and comfort to Wendy and her husband Dan together.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, glioblastoma is “an aggressive cancer that can develop in the brain or spinal cord. Glioblastomas form from cells called astrocytes that support nerve cells. Plasmoblastoma can occur at any age, but is more common in older adults. It can lead to worsening headaches, nausea, vomiting and seizures.”
